MI CASITA PROJECT

Mi Casita Project was a 3-year partnership between CUADRO Design and the Pima County Community Land Trust that advocated and educated around the City of Tucson’s ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) ordinance. The Mi Casita Project sought to champion and inform strategic changes to that ordinance and promote the benefits of high-density, infill development in Tucson’s urban core. After the 2021 passage of the ADU ordinance the Mi Casita Project set out to learn from homeowners about their needs and obstacles in regards to ADUs. This community outreach resulted in a series of community focus groups, each concentrating on a different aspect of the ADU design, development, and construction process. These informative videos are still available for viewing via a dedicated Youtube channel in both English and Spanish. In addition to these focus groups and informational videos, Mi Casita Project also awarded 5 small “finish line” grants to help homeowners get in-progress ADU projects reach completion.
